Opinionated

Yes I am. But there’s a difference between being opinionated and forcing that opinion down the throat of everyone you come in contact with in the scene.

Kinkiness and specifically spanking and BDSM come in so many varieties that there are probably as many as there are people who practice them. Each person has their own take on what it is they enjoy. This one likes a light spanking, that one a hard one. That person over there likes discipline and the person next to them likes a more romantic spanking. Different strokes for as many folks.

What really gets under my skin much more than any of the million pet peeves I have are folks who are convinced their take on the scene or on spanking is somehow the superior one. They act as if they have the whole thing figured out like a science. The worst thing is that they are more than willing to let people know when something is not to their liking even if that opinion is not asked for nor wanted.

I know that people reading this blog might think that I’m guilty of the same thing and if I am, I’m a hypocrite extraordinaire. However, there’s a difference between what I’m doing and what these fools are doing. I get annoyed by things but that doesn’t mean I think there’s anything intrinsically wrong with them. For example, I hate cottage cheese – it makes me gag just to look at it. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it nor want them to stop manufacturing it, it’s just that I don’t like it and don’t want it within sight.

Same thing with kinkiness. I’m not a “romantic” spanker. The flowing head of hair on the guy riding a horse as he sweeps a woman off her feet, spanks her and then rides off – that’s not for me (the hair part especially). However, in no way do I think there’s anything wrong with liking that sort of thing if that’s what you feel is real for you. I really don’t care what turns on other people, only what turns me on.

Over and over again, I see people online (mostly men but some women, too) who feel the need to jump in and “correct” someone who is merely stating a preference or relating a story about some play session. What they are doing is somehow “wrong” or “dangerous”. These folks ooze concern in the smarmiest way because it is less about the other person’s well being than it is about their own desire to prove themselves a kind of expert and arbiter of what’s good and what’s bad.

Competitiveness? Self-esteem issues? I’m not sure what causes that sort of attitude but I don’t like it one bit.

  1. Ooh! and Daddy has spoken! 🙂

  2. I once heard the whole “difference of opinion” thing quite nicely and simply summarized as such: You like pineapple. I don’t like pineapple. There is nothing wrong WITH the pineapple. ”

I also once saw on a T shirt: ‘You say Tomato, I say Fuck You.’ I can NOT tell you how much I love that tee shirt.

  3. I always love reading your blogs!….. Especially at 2:30am…… 😉

  4. Oh, and ..I fully agree about cottage cheese…( you don’t want it within sight..too funny!) but..what about creamed corn?? IS there a food that looks and smells more like vomit?? If there is, I don’t want to know about it. Man. Creamy AND lumpy? No. No thank you very much.

  5. Isnt Anna NAUGHTY for being up so late?? giggles…

  6. your time stamp is WRONG, btw !

  7. Your time stamp is SO WRONG!!!!!

  8. To the two children above: That was an unnecessarily public display which leaves me no choice than to save what face I have left by saying that what will happen to both of you won’t be pleasant at all.

  9. OMG! I found myself nodding my head in agreement as I first read this thread and then as I continued reading, merging into smiles and then complete laughter! So first – the serious part: I so agree Rad! Why can’t we have a difference of opinion online without the almost expected descent into bitter attacks? While I may have a very different need or opinion about the scene being talked about, it is a learning experience to read about different styles.

On the lighter side: Um….I LIKE cottage cheese AND creamed corn….soooooo let the attacks begin!

On the “shiver” side: The scolding administered by you Rad, started with “To the two children above”, gave me delicious, wonderful shivers inside. Can’t help it, I’m just wired that way.

  10. Oh boy. You think YOU are shivering, sass? I think I actually managed to go too far. 😦 I can’t speak for my instigating little friend..who shall remain nameless ANNA….! I am older and should know better. I’m truly ashamed of myself …..and sorry..and I KNOW I won’t be granted anything remotely resembling a reprieve….
(deep breath to calm my nerves)

  11. I’m really, really sorry. 😦

  12. I’m sorry, Rad!

  13. Like a spanking wasn’t ya’ll’s goal 😛

  14. I’m glad I didn’t jump into this naughty girl mosh pit.

  15. I think it’s great that you have time and desire to analyze things in such detail. I don’t spend that much time thinking about how to satisfy my desires now that I realize that I ACTUALLY C A N do it if I want. I’ve found that I’m spending a portion of my fantasy time trying to figure out how parties work and how I’ll approach attending, as well as developing my chat patter.

  16. Me too Sandy. But we can get some popcorn for the show! 🙂

  17. Rad? You? Opinionated? Who wouldva thunk it? *big smile*

  18. I would never wear the Tomato/Fuck You shirt, but dammit, it would make me laugh.

I say your rat tail would teach Anna and Lisa a really good lesson. Just sayin…

  19. Marie, while getting a spanking is certainly a thought which never strays too far from my mind, my only immediate impulsive ” need” that soon-to-be-infamous night, was just to chat/talk to Anna all eveing! How quickly I regressed to being ( eek) 22 years younger than my bio-age! What a bad influence she is! lol 😉
